Kickoff 21th Knitting- and Textile Workshop 2024

 

The time has come: the APOLDA EUROPEAN DESIGN AWARD is entering its next round. With the 21st knitting and textile workshop, which will take place in Apolda from March 3 to March 10, 2024 as an accompanying project. A total of 14 students from Trier University of Applied Sciences, the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art and the École Duperré Paris are taking part. This also includes two participants from Tallinn (Estonia) and Riga (Latvia) who are visiting one of the universities in Germany via the Erasmus program. The event is organized by the district of Weimarer Land, the district town of Apolda and the Wirtschaftsförder-Vereinigung Apolda-Weimarer Land e. V. The students have the extraordinary opportunity to implement the ideas and designs they have developed as part of their Bachelor's thesis in six textile and knitting companies in Apolda and develop them into their own collections. At the same time, they gain unique insights into professional practice - a valuable experience in addition to their studies at the respective universities.

The following companies are taking part in this year's workshop:
Anke-Hammer Strickart, Leder Atelier Apolda GmbH, SL Moden, Strickatelier Andreas Landgraf, Strickchick GmbH and kaseee [design & art].

The students will be supervised by:
Professor Dirk Wolfes, Trier University of Applied Sciences, Professor Doreen Schulz, Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee, Professor Christian Tournafol, École Duperré Paris.

The event is organized by the Weimarer Land district, the district town of Apolda and the Apolda-Weimarer Land Economic Development Association.
